Enhanced ICDP rolls develop the conventional ICDP concept with a bainitic and martensitic matrix containing Fe3C and MC carbides together with fine free graphite. Double tempering is used to control retained austenite, hardness and residual stress. The upgrade should be evaluated against a defined conventional-roll baseline.

A longer campaign is only meaningful when tonnage, diameter or radial loss, grinding stock, abnormal-event loss and strip-quality impact are compared on the same basis.

Material Structure and Technical Reference

The published EN-ICDP chemistry adds carbide-forming elements to the high-nickel ICDP direction. Chemistry, microstructure, hardness, working layer and residual-stress control must be treated as one specification.

Safety note: visible spalling, deep or growing cracks, abnormal vibration or noise, neck distress, sudden coolant loss or a major cobble should be handled under the mill’s own safety procedure.
